Feed to Succeed

‘Feed to Succeed’ News

At ThongsleyFieldsPrimary School we give our children a great school start to the day.

We run a free breakfast club for our children, giving them a nutritious meal and some time to play.

The good news is that our free breakfast club is now an integral part of the Thongsley Fields culture.

Our recent Ofsted inspection made note of the ‘daily breakfast club, supplied and managed by the school.’

They said,

‘A large proportion of the pupils attend the free breakfast club each morning. This helps them to improve their attendance, develop social skills and get a good start to the school day.’

The bad news is that, sadly, we can no longer afford to fund it from Government funds and school resources.

Currently we spend approximately £142 per school week on breakfast food. In addition we spend approximately £400 per week paying our teaching assistants overtime to look after the children who regularly benefit. We provide a total of 16,000 breakfasts per year. The breakfast club costs us £21,000 each year.

This is where Feed to Succeed comes in.

The Breakfast Club has been renamed and has become a charity. This will allow us to approach businesses and individuals to ask for sponsorship, grants and help to continue providing the free supply, to all, of a nutritious breakfast to start the day at Thongsley.

If you know of anybody who may be able to help us to raise the money that we need please don’t hesitate to contact us.
